We are incredibly proud and delighted to report that Chris Hinchliff was the successful candidate to become MP for our constituency.

Chris achieved a majority of 1,923 in a seat which has never returned anything other than a Conservative MP since its creation in 1997. Even at the Labour landslide of 1997, Sir Oliver Heald was returned as the MP for this constituency. In 2019, Sir Oliver secured over 56% of the vote, so Chris’ achievement is truly remarkable.

We could not be prouder not only of Chris, but of all our members and activists who worked so hard to make this happen, even though this seat was never a target for Labour. Chris achieved a huge swing of 18.3% from Conservative to Labour.

Chris will make a great MP for our constituency, serving everyone, whether they voted for him or not. We hope that he will have a long and illustrious period of service for our constituency and look forward to supporting him in this role.
