International Workers Day
International Workers Day

International Workers’ Memorial Day takes place every year on April 28th. This year we will pay tribute to the sacrifice made by so many workers during the coronavirus pandemic, to remember all workers who have sadly lost their lives, and to thank all those who continue to do vital work at great risk.

Trade unionists will be paying their respects to those that have died by observing a minutes silence at 11am and by lighting a candle in the evening.

On Monday, 27 April, on the eve of the Memorial Day, Labour Unions will be hosting an online discussion on Protecting Key Workers – the trade union response to covid-19. Mick Whelan, the chair of Labour Unions and the general secretary of ASLEF, will speak, as well as speakers from the GMB, Unison, Unite, USDAW and the CWU.
