We are really excited to launch our manifesto for the upcoming local elections on 2 May. You can read it here: here.

Currently, local government is facing many challenges, given that since 2010, government funding has more than halved in real terms. But that hasn’t stopped us coming up with innovative and ambitious proposals for supporting and empowering our communities and our local area for the next four years and beyond.

There’s too much in our manifesto for us to summarise all of it, but the highlights are:

–   a ‘mission’ approach that provides a better way of governing, through strong values, ambition, putting residents first, use of technology, and a proactive approach.

–   Our five missions are:

  • Working with and for you
  • Protecting our environment
  • Saving our town centres
  • Building better homes
  • Expanding opportunities for good health

–   putting the environment and our communities at the core of everything we do.

–   We will listen to you, involve you, and care for everyone, including those who work for the council.

–   And all of this is fully costed.

Labour has led North Herts Council since 2019, and, as of 2023, is the largest party. Despite the difficulties that local government faces, we are proud of the progress we have made after years of Conservative complacency. We have the knowledge and experience to keep improving things and make people’s lives better.

In 2024, every ward in North Herts is up for re-election, which means that Labour have a real chance to take majority control of the Council and continue our work. We ask for your support in that ambition.

Say no to Conservative failure that has created a broken system of public services locally and nationally. Vote Labour!
